Anti-Reflective Coating - AR Coating or Anti-Glare Coating decreases reflections of bright lights off of your eyeglasses. Are you seeing a lot of glare in the headlights of other cars as you drive at night?
The AR coating to eliminates reflections of light from the front and back surface of eyeglass lenses. With fewer reflections, more light passes through the lens to the eye for improved, clear vision and the lenses look more transparent, making your eyeglasses and you more attractive.
Ordinary eyeglass lenses cause reflections. These reflections create hazy, fuzzy, ghost images and halos that interfere with your vision. Lens reflections make it harder for you to see - especially in situations like driving at night, working at a computer, watching TV, and working under fluorescent lights
AR coating is especially beneficial when used on high-index lenses, which reflect more light than regular plastic lenses. Generally, the higher the index of refraction of the lens material, the more light that will be reflected from the surface of the lenses.
Do not attempt to clean AR-coated lenses without wetting them first; using a dry cloth on a dry lens will cause lens scratches. Because anti-reflective coatings eliminate light reflections that can mask lens surface defects, fine scratches often are more visible on AR-coated lenses than on uncoated lenses.
